I was walking back from Goldhill to Novena Gardens when I notice the looooong queue just outside the Revenue House. It’s time of the year when all taxpayers’ time is due to pay their dues.

The irony of it all is that, the infrastructure (waiting area, chairs, fans, computers etc) had been set up like months ago (I know, cos I walk past it everyday) and often, you can count the number of people with my 8 fingers and 2 thumbs. There was hardly anyone till today.
Today, the scene I captured was expected. Why? The due date for tax filing is 15Apr10. This goes to show that many people love to do things last minute. When push comes to shove. Something that one can probably needs to settle in 15min (if it had been done earlier) would need to take a minimum of 1-3hours (depending on the queue).
This is a parallel that I see in many students. How many loves to do last minute revision and got to put up with the agony and anxiety of not being able to finish the content? The pain in exchange forĀ procrastinating. Wouldn’t it be easier to just do things earlier, and fasten the pace of learning?
Some argue that it’s human nature to delay pain, others say that there’s no sense of urgency. So, what’s your excuse today for not doing what you want to?
