What Makes You To be Special As the Top 10% of The Students?

We believe that every student wants to get A1. Nobody will feel proud if he/she gets a F9 in exams. The question is, how can we really get A1?

Let’s learn some maths how A1 students are evaluated in O’Level.

Here I would like to introduce you one statistics graph, we called it as Bell-Curve. As what it is named, the curve looks like a bell in typical graph.

This curve tells us that in typical case, most of the students who take O’ Level will get middle marks, probably scoring 40% to 60%. MOE will take the top 10% of the students as A1, and another 10% of the lowest score students as F9. Let’s say there are 1000 students who take O’Level Amaths, therefore there will be 100 students to get A1 out of 1000 students.  The marking scheme would be different from school, where students will get A1 if they score 75%/80% and above.

Now, let’s face the fact. How are you going to claim yourself as A1 student? The fact is, you must be one of the top 10% of the students! You are not only competing among your classmates, among the students in your school, but it is among ALL the students who take O’levels in Singapore!

Is scoring A1 is easy? I would say, YES!

What is the first step you must do to head towards your A1? Change your learning mindset to A1 mindset!

Whenver you learn, think what can you do to make you to be different compared to other students.

If typical students spend 2 hours everyday to learn, you spend 3 hours.

If typical students do 10 questions for exercise, you do additional 10 questions.

If typical students just keep quiet if they faced problem in learning, you step out and proactively seek for solution. Ask the teacher, ask your tutors/coaches, ask advice from seniors who are one of the top 10%. Do some research online.

While typical students think they are fine and  comfortable with their current learning style that does not bring them to A1, you role model succesful students who can get A1 easily.

While all your classmates started to complain, justify and blame when they fail in a certain exam, you learn from your mistake and think how you can do better when you face the similar questions in future exams.

If typical students only can score one or two times of A1 in school exams, or not even a single time, you consistently get A1 in ALL your school exams.

In other words, take the extra mile. Do extra things that typical students do not do but can empower yourself.

If you want to get A1, you must be unique. You are not a typical student. You must be the top 10%. Always think: HOW CAN I DO BETTER TO MAKE MYSELF TO BE SPECIAL COMPARED TO OTHER TYPICAL STUDENT?
