Lately while I am coaching many students to prepare for their exams, I noticed a disappointing trend among some of them. I found some students were just waiting for me to feed them with quick summaries and answers to some exam papers without asking themselves the most important question, “How should I approach this question?”. Without proactively seeking answer on their own, they just wait for me to tell them the answer. The concerning part is they are not going to learn much through this process as they do not actively seek knowledge but just wait for the answer to come from me.
In view of the coming exams, I have compiled few powerful strategies that students should be using when they are preparing for their exams.
1. You must be able to recap all the important concepts/formulas for each chapter tested. If you are unable to, pls go through power concepts maps as detailed as possible.
2. Do you have a approach strategy to solving? I suggest you identify for each chapter a approach strategy and approach by asking what concepts/info you are tested in that questions.
3. Practise a good range of questions like every chapter 5 questions to give yourself a good gauge of your understanding.
4. Finally, do a mock exam paper to prepare for your exam under exam condition.
Finally, rem its important seek for solutions rather than wait for someone to tell you. You learn better and remember better when you do that! Students, ALL THE BEST for your mid year exams!
