Just got an email from Anthony and read his article http://www.anthonyfernando.com/2010/03/03/399/.
I totally agree with what he says.
I just recall an incident last week.
We had a bio workshop last week.
Heard from the bio coach that one of the parents told her her child was rejected by a teacher before simply because his results is not up to par.
I was agitated when I heard this. How can you reject helping a student just because his results is not ideal yet. Precisely he is not scoring he needs help and henceforth is looking for the teacher.
This is RIDICULOUS!
According to our Advo Philosophy – Every Child has EQUAL Potential.
Who are we to give students labels like “you are not bright”, ” you wont make it”.
Ain’t that equivalent to sentencing the child to life sentence even before trial?
NO! The only thought we should have is how to assist the student.
I was once a victim of this labelling by my teachers in school.
Well.. I prove them wrong. I ACE my subjects at the end of the day.
Students who are reading this… Throw away all the labels that people are giving you, it is not empowering at all! Remember, everyone has EQUAL potential. =)
