When I was informed that I have to blog weekly of ONE learning…I was like “wth~ where to find so many things to blog?”
Of course the inertia is great.
After which it dawn on me that this has enabled me to become more conscious of my learnings.
In fact, there are things which we learn daily. It is a matter of we realise it or not.
Last sunday, I doing about my voluntary coaching session. At the end of the day we had a game of “planting beans”.
The objective of the game is to collect as many of the same type of beans as possible.
If you have 2 plots of land, you can only collect 2 types at the same time.
In order to achieve your objective, you have to trade with other players or you can give ur beans to those who need it FREE.
At the end of the game, we had a debrief and sharing session.
Coming from a business background, to me the game is all about strategies and scheming against others. lol
What I heard next from a Sec 4 student put me to shame.
He said “we do not necessary have to win at the expense of others”
How true! If you were to give the beans to other players who needs it and at the end of the day they will reciprocrate!
My senior went on to share that every single action or good deed that we are doing is like planting the seeds of the bean.
Even though we never know when it will be harvested or comes back to us but eventually it will.
I just wanna put these 2 learnings into the context of a student.
Often you may be asked to do this(homework) and that(memorise concepts/formulas) and practise practise!!!
I understand that some of you may be fustrated at having to deal with this day in day out.’
However, if you were to fulfill all these dutifully. You are like planting the seeds of the bean.
When it comes to exam/test, that is when you will harvest your plantation.
I have this student who has been with me for a year plus.
The fruit of her results is the effort she has put in to everyday.
She gets her homework done on time. She puts in her 100% effort for all her subjects.
You think she don’t like to play? You think she don’t find it tiring at times?
Of coz she does! She is just a teenager like any of you out there.
Why with the same coach, same materials, same delivery method, same amount of time… but she is doing better than other students in the class?
Simply because she is fulfilling her duties as a student despite the fact that she may not like it that much.

Sow the seeds today and results will come eventually!!!
