After putting some pressure on myself, I have recently resumed my reading habit once again,
& here’s a small but very interesting tip i read from a book by L.Lowndes:
Start every appropriate sentence with ‘you’!!
It grabs your listeners’ attention immediately & gets a more positive response because it pushes the pride button and saves them the hassle of having to translate it into ‘me’ terms.
Imaging someone telling you, “I like your handwriting!!”
and another person tells you, “You have beautiful handwriting!!”
Which comment gives u more warmth?
Perhaps we can make small changes to the way we comment & talk to others,
Putting everything in context, lets say, for evaluation sessions,
we can tell prospective parents or students,
“you have asked a good question!”
instead of “that was a good question!”
“You will see the importance of using the right words …”
instead of “It is important that the right words are used …”
Start testing out this Comm-YOU-nication technique and see if u can detect a change in the way people react!
