Do you think the workings or the answer is more important when solving Math?
There are many students who are only concerned about matching their own answer against the answer sheet’s.
If it matches, they mark themselves correct and will be satisfied with their performance.
This is the time where I usually comes in as a “devil” role.
Students, you should know that at times your final answer may be exactly the same as your friend yet you are only getting half the marks that your friends are scoring.
WHY?
Simply because you didnt state the necessary steps with proper working or your workings are not shown clearly.
Marks will be awarded for correct workings.
Do you know that working simply reflects your flow of thoughts when solving the Math question?
If your workings are in a mess, your mind is also in a mess!
Under such condition, how can you assess a question clearly and work your way to the answer?
Not forgetting that some questions can be phrased or set in a tricky manner.
This usually leads to the usual NOT careful mistakes that students make.
On the other hand, you might just get the correct answer by chance.
Yet if you had understand the concepts behind every questions, wouldn’t it be easier for you to solve similar question in further? Even if they were to twist the question.
So I strongly encourage students to put in conscientious effort on the workings rather than place your emphasis on the answer.
If the workings are in place, the right answer will come eventually.
Happy learning, Students! =)
