I just read an e-book that I found it very inspiring… especially by the last part where it shared “Your impossible goals of today will become your lifetime memories for tomorrow. They need to be bigger than you are. They must have a noble purpose. You want them to have a lasting impact. Make them something your kids will tell your grandkids and your great-grandkids: “Mom and Dad (or Grandma and Grandph) did this.” So what are your impossible goals? How do we achieve them?
It is very true that we always hear the debate between setting “practical, achievable goals” vs “big dreams!”. The book enlightens me on the answer, it doesn’t matter whether our goals are practical or not! The only thing that matters is whether the method we choose for achieving the goals is practical or not!
To summarise the steps that shared:
(1) Decide what you want – Impossible or not!
(2) Decide “why” you want it – This will give you energy you need to see it through.
(3) List up ALL the possible methods for its achievement.
(4) Choose the most practical method for you.
(5) Go out and do the impossible!
We may find that on our first time out we don’t find a method that gets us all the way to where we want to go. The total solution may not manifest itself in the beginning. That’s ok. Start with the pieces you can see. Have faith that other methods and opportunities will reveal themselves as you undertake your journey. The key is to start taking action: the first step leads to the next step!
For students, do you think that getting As is impossible? If you are, let’s follow the steps that shared by the authors (you can also email me to ask for the e-book to read in details), remember, it is not the goal that is impossible, it is whether the method is practical or not, decide what you want & why you want it, list all the possible ways to achieve it & start the first step, you will get it! Same goes for me, I will also work on my impossible goal!
