What makes me HAPPY.
- A simple text from friends/boyfriend. (Because I was remembered by someone like early in the morning!)
.
- When Murphy (my beloved Pekingese) stands and leans against my bed, sniffs at my face and makes all sort of irritating noises forcing me to wake up.
.
- My breakfast is well prepared and awaits me at the dining table, and my kopi-o is so warm, fragrant waiting for me to have them.
.
- When my students tell me how much they’ve improved in their grades, what happened to them in school, what nonsense they’ve created that day and how they wanted to attend my wedding. (Years to come but they’ve already invited themselves…)
.
- My mom sms me, “COMING HOME FOR DINNER? GOT SOUP HOR”.
.
- When my dad tells me things I already know as he had told me TOO MANY TIMES. We don’t have many conversations together but he will try to humor me. I really appreciate that!
.
- When I feel the satisfaction upon throwing my insets against, hitting and cutting through the leg padding, releasing a super loud “BAM!” and I see the pain on the pad holder’s face. (That was a truly amazing kick! I haven’t wasted my years practicing after all!)
.
- When I write down my thoughts and do careful planning on my diary. (I am in total control of myself)
.
- Exercising! When I sweat and pant, I know that I’m carefully reducing the calories I’ve gained from my intakes, and I’m piling on strength and endurance!
.
- Good Grades. Who doesn’t enjoy self-accomplishments?
.
- Sunny and Windy days. Because it’s neither too hot nor too cold. Adore that!
.
- When I take out a DOLLAR to buy 3 packets of overpriced lousy tissues that gets stuck to my face when I’m sweating. (I’ve helped the uncle to get him 1/3 plate of chicken rice.)
.
- When someone says “Elsie! You looked great!” on a day when I totally looked disheveled.
.
- Queuing up to buy Loong Fatt Tau Sar Pia for my friends, family and colleagues. Because I know those are AWESOME FOOD and only AWESOME people around me deserves them!
.
- When all the Old folks and pregnant ladies get a seat in the train.
.
- A simple smile in return from strangers when I smiled at them.
.
Each time I feel lousy, I’ll just think of things that can make me feel happy, simple things like that. Why should I be upset over a thing when there are SO MUCH that is worth being happy for???
Gratitude has taught me how to love myself and to love everyone around me, even silly things like the broken pavement that trips me each time when I walk back and forth from home to work.
I will get so agitated each time when I almost fall!
Because the broken pavement always gets in my way, I would purposely stand on the broken and rocky concrete for a second just to feel butterflies in my stomach, laugh at myself and continue my journey back happily. It just became my routine and I no longer feel pissed about it anymore.
Why should I be upset when I am given a choice to be happy?
I know someone would love this pic alot. Right kitty Kat? (:
