a lesson from methane & the periodic table

One of my boys was looking at the Periodic table for quite some time, so I asked him what he was looking for. It turned out that he was searching for “methane”. He thought that methane was an element. I admit I was really taken aback, because this was the first time that I came across such a scenario. This woke me up and made me realise that I really cannot take for granted, even the stuff that are seemingly fundamentals. (: (:

Hahah, one of my kids was uncannily looking for T for Tungsten! Often what one takes for granted, another is grateful for it, interesting!
