Entropy

Entropy is the measure of disorder in a system and the Second Law of Thermodynamics says that the entropy of the universe always increases. Orderly states with low entropy do not occur randomly and huge amount of time and energy has to be expended to decrease the entropy of a system. On the other hand, no effort is required to increase the entropy. This is an important law which applies to real life instances and explains why our hair gets messy naturally and tidy workdesk becomes unorganized after a while.

Interesting sharing on why people tend to become messy after a while. More importantly before we explain why we are becoming “messy”, let’s ask ourselves first – “Is being messy and disorganised useful to my work and life?”

Precisely because organising requires time and effort, we tend to dread doing so, even if we all know that it is important to be neat and tidy (Lee Kuan Yew himself makes sure that his desk is neat before it starts his day). Yet it is through these efforts to tidy up ourselves that we achieve clarity and success.

Do share with us how you can use the law of entropy to your advantage. Looking forward to your sharing!
